CS-21 is a chemical agent that has catalytic properties to activate and promote the hydration reaction of cement. Normally, cement concrete has the ability to transform into a dense and strong material over a long period when cured in water. Additionally, in the event of cracks, it has the property to fill these cracks through the hydration reaction of cement. This is because even in concrete that has been in place for several decades, unhydrated cement still exists. However, in the case of existing concrete structures, the generation of cement crystals through the hydration reaction takes time, and the necessary conditions for the hydration reaction do not continue, leading to deterioration. When CS-21 is sprayed or applied to hardened concrete and water curing is performed afterward, it rapidly transforms unhydrated cement and unstable hydration products into more stable CSH-type crystals, filling the voids. This reaction continues for a long time as long as moisture and unhydrated cement are present.
